Healthier Footwear Choices

My love of pointy toed stilettos and genetics led me to my transition to barefoot shoes. In 2019, I was diagnosed with Morton’s Neuroma, a painful foot condition caused by pinched nerves, which doesn’t have a cure. I’ve tried many things to help ease the pain over the years, but one of the most beneficial has been transitional shoes: shoes that have a wide toe box, minimal heel or toe lift, and are flexible. These aren’t quite barefoot shoes which also have minimal padding. I still need the padding to protect my neuromas, and you might still need the padding while on your journey to barefoot shoes.
When searching for transitional shoes, I struggled with shoes that were too expensive, had poor shipping or return policies, or said they were “zero drop” or “wide toe box” but didn’t even come close to the definition. I needed a comprehensive list of options, under $150, with good shipping and return policies in the US. You may notice some transitional shoes don’t make the cut, and it’s likely because they don’t meet the above criteria. If you feel like you’ve found a good pair though, let me know by reaching out to TransitionalShoes@gmail.com.
